I plan on making a SBR out of one of my rifles via the trust route. Do I put the serial, model etc of the rifle I am going to make into a SBR on the schedule A prior to getting it approved or should I send in my trust without anything on the schedule A?

You can wait to put it on there. The schedule A I had on mine just listed $100.

Thanks. I guess I will just put $20 dollars on it, just to have something on the Schedule A.

Now I just have to decide what to name my Trust. I am thinking of making it "my intials Trust" and making sure I put the statement, This revocable living trust shall be known as the XXX Trust in the document. that way I don't have to worry about engraving "revocable living" on the lower.

I'm working on the same thing for my own trust to include my father. The one I'm currently on is 'The XXXXXXX Family Living Trust'. Even with that and the city/state engraved, it's not much of an eyesore on the rifle. Obviously it might impact resale, but are you honestly going to sell a $200 lower that you paid $200 to have registered as an SBR? I don't plan to.

As far as I can tell you can name it anything. There is no reason you have to even include the words 'revocable', 'living', or 'trust'. I think a lot of people are putting 'Something RLT' as theirs, which is much better than the words listed out.

I was thinking of just some acronym - Freedom United Clandestine Keepers and name the trust F.U.C.K. =P

I finished my trust and got it notarized. Now I just need to finish the Cert of Trust, decide on what barrel I want, then fill out the Form 1.

Well, I mailed off my form 1 and trust docs to the NFA Branch today. I decided to just buy a BCM 11.5" standard upper instead of re-barreling my extra 16" upper.

I sold my extra 16" upper for about the same price as the 11.5" in a few hours.

For awhile I was thinking about waiting for the lightweight 11.5" uppers to arrive, but I thought that the gov. weight may be better in the long run if I get a suppressor. I don't think there would be that much of a weight difference anyway.

Can't wait to get approved and shoot some hogs.

Thanks everyone for your help.

Im also going the "revoceable trust" route.

tell me everything you sent the BATF...
I have the (2) form 1, & the Schedule A. what else goes ?
do you send the complete trust ? copy or original ?

Just a word of warning...

Read your trust very carefully. If it mentions other schedules as being part of the trust (i.e. Schedule B or C), you must include those schedules too in order for the trust to be "complete."

Speaking from experience as I had my Form 1 kicked back because I only sent in Schedule A, thus my trust was incomplete according to NFA Legal.

YMMV.

You sure as hell better not send them the original, you don't get it back.
