Had a 512A.65 Rev.F for 2 years and like it very much although it did have to get repaired once with a new battery cover that the factory supplied free of cgarge. It was hacing intetrmittent on and off's.
What's the hoopla on the 553? Really interested in all feedback.
Thanks!

553 does a couple things well. It has a riser built into it, uses CR123A batts, is shorter than the 512/552 and uses ARMS throw levers.

I almost bought one but heard that they get loose(mount).

This can happen. I have not experienced it yet though.

Pat said the ones he has are loose. I hope Eotech comes up with a fix as I like the unit. 557 use a different mount?

The ARMS mounts can vary on their tightness due to how wide or narrow the Picatinny rail is.
There is no fix for the ARMS mount. Either it is tight on your rail or it isn't.

I agree with Grant, and this is why I have gone to LaRue mounts. They are adjustable amd hold their "Zero" 100% each time they are installed, or removed from the rail. Any rail!

I just ordered a 553, if the arms mount is loose can I use my larue mount?

Nope.

The only "fix" I've seen for a loose mount is to cut/glue beer can shims to the inside of your EOTech mount. Fortunately, my 553 fits just fine.
Which begs the obvious question, what the hell where they thinking?
Well, you must not know Dick S. very well. :D
Dick builds his lever/mounts to HIS rail spec. So his mounts (typically) work very well with his rails (SIR, #38, etc). And when his mounts do NOT work with other M1913 Picatinny rails, he just simply tells you that they are out of spec.

CR123. That's just about it. I'm not too keen on paying for ARMs levers and a 7mm rise when I can buy another Eotech that uses CR123 (XPS) and buying a Larue QD mount

Get a T-1 on a LaRue riser.

And someone knows if it's still possible to find and buy a field repair kit for the 553 and the batteries issues?
