Wondering what others with experience think of the Noveske N4 Light - Low Profile rifle? I have been looking at the Noveske N4 Light - Low Profile rifle and the S&W M&P 15T and wondering what others think of these two rifles?

I haven't picked up one of his new N4 uppers yet, but I have several of his regular rifles and the quality is excellent. I firmly believe the N4 will be superior in every aspect to the S&W if for no other reason than the attention John and his staff are able to direct to the rifles coming out of his shop vs. the more mass produced S&W's. I have nothing negative or positive to say about the S&W - don't own one, but I KNOW Noveske's work product and there's no way you can go wrong with his offerings.

I have a Noveske N4 and love it. Ran 1500 rounds through it without cleaning just Slip. I have seen S&W's that are decent and other that are crap. My opinion after seeing several S&W with problems is that the Noveske is heads and tails above the Smith. Frankly at this point I'd never buy a S&W period.

My N4 arrived yesterday and I'm very pleased. Very good quality and from what I can tell a flawlessly built rifle. It's head and shoulders above the S&W's I've seen.

What length rifle did you get? Did you get the low profile N4? What specifically makes the N4 better than the S&W?

Thanks for your input. I am researching the N4 and from what I have read many other have nothing but good things to say about the N4.

I have the standard N4 Low Profile carbine w/ 14.5" barrel & pinned vortex. I should not have pointed my post directly toward S&W as if there was something specifically wrong w/ them. However I base my opinion on the fit & finish of the carbine. Due to a kneck problem I've not been able to shoot it. However after looking at S&W's at a local gun shop I can say the fit is overall better, better trigger & more consistent trigger. That doesn't mean the S&W doesn't go boom when you want it to.

The Noveske and the S&W aren't designed to be in the same league, so its unfair to S&W to compare them. The barrel, staking, stock, grip, level of QC (etc) that goes into Novekse take it far beyond that of a mass production carbine.

Thanks for the picture and the information on the level of QC of the Noveske.

What it Slip?

Slip 2000 (http://www.slip2000.com/slip2000-EWL.html). Great all-around weapons lube - stays put during firing and has fewer harmful chemicals.

My M&P15T has been a fine weapon. Mine doesn't get really hard use -- it is limited to plinking and 3-gun matches, mostly -- but it has been flawless. I'd love to take a carbine class but that is just not in the cards right now.

On the other hand, I had a buddy who had one that had a burr on the ejector that gave him fits until Smith finally replaced the whole BCG. Now his runs perfectly, too (in the same capacity as mine - 3-gun matches, etc.).

It is true that the S&W is not in quite the same league as the Noveske. Noveske is a semi-custom/custom builder. Smith is, well, not a semi-custom/custom builder. However, as far as bang for the buck went, I got pretty much everything I wanted at a fair price when I bought my Smith and I've been pleased.

Stickman,

Any words of wisdom in relation to the Foreend Noveske is now using?

Thanks!

Solid lockup, no gap, multiple QD mounts, well done machining. It looks like a good upgrade to me.

It's an SWS.
Very well made.
Just not advertised and the guy making them does not spend enough time on forums promoting them.

I recently purchased one of the SWS rails and while I only have a few hundred rounds through the gun with the rail, at this point I like it. To go along with that the owner of the company was very helpful and the service outstanding.

I'd still like to know comparative weights/dimensions of the SWS/Noveske railed forend versus the competition.

How did you get your name on the side rail? Is that the 14.5" low profile Novekse? Which FS is that on your rifle and is it permanently attached? Very nice rifle and I almost have enough money to get me one:D

They have been out for several years.
