I was window-surfing and came across this Quick Change Barrel Retrofit kit. (http://www.mapartsinc.com/productsDetail.asp?id=1415&img=83107142626_abasa%20017.jpg)
I was wondering if anyone has ever bought and used this kit. if so, how exactly does it work? TIA.

That's a very interesting solution to a problem that does not exist.
As much as I despise M&A, I might actually order one of these to fool with.
I should think you would install it like a JP or badger, which is to say that you loctite the nut to the receiver and let it set-up.
Then you slide the barrel into place and torque the retaining ring.

That's how it appears to me too. It looks like they just threaded the original type barrel nut all the way through. Looks like an easy way to get perfect barrel nut alignment without using shims or torquing past 80lbs or trying other barrel nuts.
The more and more I install JP VTACs the more I like them. The free-floating rails I like best are DD Lite Rails, where there is no bbl nut alignment required, pure genius IMHO.

If either of you try this thing, let us know how it goes!!
Looks to me like something I'd call a "thread saver".
Basically, all it does is save the alloy threads on the receiver from being worn out with alot of barrel changes.
You go thru basically the same steps, except you don't have to torque the barrel nut down apparently, you just tighten up the new nut to some unspecified amount.
I wouldn't call it a "quick change barrel" system.
But it may have its uses.

Without the need to remove the gas tube and barrel nut, it's certainly quicker than a regular barrel nut.
Is it worth the price?
Probably not.

I like seeing companies move forward with product development. Even for people who don't see a need for this, it doesn't change that its nice to see someone thinking outside the box.
