Does anyone make a 1:7 twist 14.5 or 14. 7 inch M4 profile barrel that does not have the 203 barrel notch?

Any info appreciated.

Well, the 203 notch is one of the features that defines the "M4 barrel profile". Otherwise, you're basically just looking for a lightweight or medium profile barrel. CMMG has what you're looking for, if that's the case.

I would say he's looking for a govt profile carbine barrel.
This would be a hybrid of an A2 design in a carbine length.

Personally, if you want the lightweight under the handguard, go lightweight all the way out past the front sight base... ;)

Here are some govt type profiles:

Noveske makes a 14.5" SS barrel in 1/7 twist.

Sorry for the thread hijack:)

Since we are discussing bbl profiles here, what is the reason why the A2 bbl is thick outside the handguards?

The Noveske N4 14.5 barrel doesn't have the 203 notch. Not sure if it's exactly M4 profiled under the handguard though.

Thanks for the replys. I need to checkout Noveske.

Actually, I'd rather have a medium or heavy profile under the handguards.

No such thing as a stupid question - only stupid answers.

And markm is back so you can be assured that we will have a few more of those around here. ;)

Bushmaster also offers a 14.5" heavy barrel without the 203 notch.
Chrome lined too and I do believe they will turn one to Government profile on custom order.

There are much better choices than the Bushmaster.
