Starting yesterday (9/23/2007) members are now required to have 30 posts before posting used/pre-owned items for sale or trade in the Member Sales forum.
Industry Professionals and Site Sponsors are exempt from this rule.
--GOTM4
All for sale adds must have a price and what payment methods are accepted.
I suppose I am considered an industry professional?
MTSF (Custom Firearms Services)
Savannah, GA.
(Listed in the FFL holders on Guns America)
I AM a newby to your site (I DO like it VERY much BTW..!)
and have a personal item or 2 I'd like to post for trade; I do
realize I do not have 30 posts however..
I've been a LONG time member of these following forums:
Sig
S&W
Seecamp
Rohrbaugh
The Firing Line
GlockTalk
And others I have surely forgotten.
May I have authorization to post please?
(I do understand if the answer is negative however..)
Thanks to the powers that be..!

I am curious as to the reasoning? I have nothing to sell I just don't understand.

So that individuals contribute in a meaningful way to the site and not just show up to peddle their wares.

You'll need 30 or more posts before posting in the member sales section and this area is for used items only.
From the rules:
3) Industry Professional – This forum designates a very choice few members with the title of Industry Professional. These are individuals who have extensive first hand experience with the deployment of small arms, execution of proper tactics, or development of the past or current military weapons platforms. Generally speaking, they are well compensated for the information that they provide; and providing information on a free internet forum is a service to us all. Often in an internet forum other posters may not recognize the individual behind certain screen names or have checked their screen name bio. This title is a helpful tool for a viewer to identify such individuals. You are welcome to disagree with their opinion (debate is one of the best ways to fully understand and exchange information), but please take a moment to recognize where their experience and information comes from. (in other words IPs aren't dealers, these are typically current or former Spec Ops types, SWAT officers, weapons system designers etc).
Thanks to all, I understand.. I am only a small shop and have only been in the field for a mere 23 years.. (Hahaha..!)
NO problem guys, I'll wait till I have made more posts (Twenty something to go..!)
Best rtegards,
E!
(PS - I was only speaking of a couple of my personal used pieces as trade fodder by the way..) :)
Shoot.. Posted a FS Item before reading the rules.. My apologies and understand it will be removed..
Be Safe,
Jack

NEW RULE addition suggestion:
Sell your items EXCLUSIVELY HERE or put text in your ad that says you are also selling the items elsewhere... or something like that.
I just got d1cked by a seller who listed "'First I'll Take It' gets the item" ad and then listed the SAME items on TOS with the same "'First I'll Take It' gets the item."
What the heck logic is that?

Been lurking around here for a while, but don't post very often. I guess that means I can't sell anything.

So after you have posted 30 times, do you automatically become approved to post for sale items or is their an approval process? I've bought on the site but have a few items laying around that I'd like to sell.
Thanks..............

Once reach 30 you are cleared hot. Just make sure your 30 posts are not a bunch of crap just to get to use the Sales Forum.

Does one then have to PM a mod to get permission or is it automatic after 30 posts?

It should be automatic.

This is a very good move, IMO. We did this on a local forum and got a ton of flack from people who were trying to abuse the system but also a lot of pats on the back from the regulars who saw it as the bullshit-mitigating policy that we meant it to be.
Big thumbs up here.

I have to agree... This also gives potential buyers the ability to sort of get to know who they are dealing with too. Somthing the other "AR" site should have done along time ago, to flush the turds out of the sight.
I think the 30 post is fair. Takes a while to get to that #.. but I can still see abuse coming in..
People can post in 30 locations and put in one line crap.
EDITED:
Hmm.. just tried to post.. and I have over 30 posts.. and I'm restricted. Maybe it takes a bit of time to automatically get access?
