I have been getting conflicting responses from the threads I found in a search.

I am going to be trading a Rock Island 1911 that I have for some AR parts and cash. One of the items in this trade is a Full Auto FN BCG. I want to verify this is a real FN bolt since I was originally planning to get a BCM. This trade will get my project damn near finished so I would like to use the FN if it is indeed real.

Some say that is had to be marked FN on the side of the carrier. The item in question is marked mpf and the carrier has a cage code.

I've been to the FN factory armorer courses. The bolts, when I was there, were indeed marked MPF some with a line under the F & some w/o.

I looked but did not see any markings on the carriers.

It would seen simple to look up a cage code. But I suppose that could be from a prime vendor and not the manufacturer.

In any case, the bolt is the heart of an AR.. I have snapped several with high round counts.. at least you'll have a quality FN bolt

I have NEVER seen part failure of a carrier. Only poor assembly, if poorly staked or over-torqued the gas key screws may come loose or snap.

Most FN carriers are marked with an F or FN.

If this carrier you are getting in trade doesn't have these markings, I would assume it is not FN and adjust the deal accordingly for a no name aftermarket carrier.

Of the couple hundred FN bolts that I have seen, all were marked like dano said and all of the carriers were stamped "FN" in the same place and manner as the "C" on every Colt carrier I have seen.
