My newest AR has a AAC 51T Brakeout Comp pinned and welded to a 14.5" DD barrel. Done by Rainier Arms, all the ports are at 9/12/3 o'clock. Mounted just perfectly.

I really like this muzzle device so I decide to replace the 51T Blackout on my 16" Noveske with a 51T Brakeout Comp.
(My paperwork is at ATF for a M4-2000 by the way and the Blackout is in the EE if anyone is interested.)

No matter what combination of shims I use, I cannot get this device to mount perfectly at the 9/12/3 o'clock position. Right now I have it real real close. It may be a tick off. One degree maybe, if that. Anyone picking up this rifle would most likely not even notice it. I can't see this being an issue shooting unsurpressed.

My question is.....will this slight imperfection in mounting this brake type device be any problem when shooting surpressed with the M4-2000?

Do these devices allow crush washers for timing rather than shims?

DO NOT ever use a crush washer when mounting for suppressor use. They may not crush evenly. The shims are precision ground flat.

The suppressor does not know which way is up, so 1* off will not matter. My Breakout is ever so sligltly off too. You can only see it when you look straight down the bore. I lucked out with the Break and only had to use one shim and it is perfectly at 90*.

As stated... it doesn't make a shit bit of difference with the can on. It's when the can is off that a brake/comp can push the gun back different.

1 degree won't have any impact.

I was a tick off mounting the same on my 300 BLK upper. It shoots just fine with the can off and I'm still waiting on my stamp for the can.

It bugged me a little too but nobody will ever know, except for the people who read this thread.

I also mounted mine with shims, but I did not know about never mounting a muzzle device with a crush washer if you plan mount a can to it. I also learned something new. I feel like an idiot and I'm glad that no one was injured because of my ignorance. Thanks for the very useful piece of information. I should just stick to my day job and hire professionals for everything else!
