I picked up a KAC selector a while back and I have a quick question.

Does you selector (either aftermarket add on or on a factory rifle) have the same feel as a standard AR selector? On the one that I received it simply does not have the positive engagement that a standard AR has. Below I have pictures of two selectors, the first being a standard AR selector and the second being a KAC.

You can see the height of the ridge between the two deeper points for safe and fire that allow for the nice tactile click when manipulating the safety. Now for the KAC.

Now on the KAC you can see an almost complete lack of this ridge between the two positive engagement points that lead to the less postive feel of the selector engagement.

Any thoughts/experiences?

Thanks,
Rick

Contacted Knight's?

Email went out prior to the thread. I have no doubt they would exchange it, however if they are all made this way I'll save them the effort as it still works fine.

The ambi safety on my SR-15 feels just like any other standard safety. Click on, click off.

You can try fitting the profile of the selector detent to that of the selector recesses but it's time consuming. Cutting on the selector is the more elegant solution but selectors are more expensive, the cuts more complex and the steel harder.

The selectors on my sr15's have all had very positive engagement / disengagement w/ smooth movement back & forth and a solid click into position. I did have an LMT selector a couple years ago that was similar to what you describe. I sent it in for replacement.
