...well, you know.;)

Actually bought the scope, mount, and bipod for a very specific reason (quantifying POI shift with the can) but after I got it all mounted up I couldn't resist a couple of pics. It's just so... wrong. :D

Nah, those pics are cool Rob. Reminded me of the LaRue Stealth setup here: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=5&t=632350

I was just worried that with that thread title, it was going to be a picture of two boys...... uh, nevermind.

I thought you weren't "that interested" in knowing the real answer......;)

I wasn't, except that Ops sent me a free muzzle break mount after they saw my first results, and I felt kind of obligated to re-do the test.

Of course, I spent $600 in gear to say thanks for getting a $180 part for free.:D

I'm trying to figure out what's wrong? It looks like you got the tools you needed to perform the task at hand. Nothing wrong there. You met your requirements. Other people's perceptions be damned.

I agree that it's set up the way it needs to be to do what I want it to, it's still just wrong to put a 9x scope and a bipod on a 11.5" long .625" dia. barrel. :D

Especially when a Bipod newb like me puts it on backwards.

Mark LaRue posted a similar picture on another site we're all familiar with. He had a sizable scope on a short barrel. It reminded me of the scopes on Civil War era muskets where the scope was damn near as long as the barrel. (IIRC the Gettysburg Museum had an excellent display of such weapons. If you ever get the change I highly recommend it.)

I think he was posting pics of a gun with a much higher quality barrel. Noveske also makes very high quality barrels in the 10.5-12.5" range. In fact, I think MSTN did some long-range testing with a Noveske 7.5" barrel some time back that was very revealing in terms of accuracy achieved.

Ultimately that's what the scope and bipod are for here, to try to quantify the accuracy potential out of this, and other, carbines with various types of ammo and both with and without suppressors.

Not to mention, the local IPSC club has some precision matches that should be fun to run (and maybe even win!) with the suppressed shorty.

Yeah, I think someone linked to that thread earlier in this thread.

No, not really. You could try and argue that the whole bipod is mounted opposite the way you would mount it though ;)
