Hello all. I have been lurking here for a while, and now need to find some help from the knowledgeable folks here at m4carbine. I recently purchased an Eotech 552, and the 3x magnifier. The Eotech that I received does not have the cams installed, and locks on with the oversized thumb screw on the side. The magnifier is mounted on one of the EoTech flip to side mounts.
When I mounted these onto the rail, the magnifier does not seem to line up with the window in the optic. It actually sits about a third higher than the 552 does on the rail. Is there something that I can do to level this out? Thanks a lot for the info.

The magnifiers are set up for the 553’s. For a 552 You need a riser, IMO the LaRue LT-110 is the best.

Yup, similar here. On my flattop, the 3xMag shows a slight shadow from the 512's Hood. For me, it's no big deal though, as the mag's focal point is much further out and you can still 'see thru' the hood's shadow.
Looking at that pics of the LaRue from your links, I'm guessing you'd only mount the HWS on it, correct? Are there any risers avail. that aren't so long?
(pics taken before the mag was adjusted, as you can see from the off-center reticle.)

The Samson/ARMS mount for the EOTech 3x magnifier is adjustable so that the reticle appears in the center of the magnifiers tube and thus you won't see the shadow.

I had heard that the YMH riser would line up the optics? Anyone know? Rhino, I also have an M&P 15T that I am trying this set-up on. The LaRue mount looks like it would work for co-witnessing the irons, but the magnifier would still be higher using it.

Yes, the mount does provide azim/elev. screws - but only to line up the reticle itself & doesn't account for the hood shadow on the 51x-55x. The only folks not affected will be 553/557 users as they feature built-in risers. There's talk of this pre-553 'oversight' on some other forums, here's one informative thread from AK47.net (http://www.ak47.net/lite/topic.html?b=3&f=18&t=343775).

Yeah, both the LaRue & the YHM mounts would give you a 1/3 co-witness with the irons, but line up w/ the magnifiers.
Farrelljt, there's also 'supposedly' an lower-profile first-party EO QD Ring mount available for the 51x-55x series HWS (as seen on the magnifier box), but haven't been able to gather any info about it. I'll try and contact L3 & post an update for you flattop owners, unless someone else beats me to it. :)
On a side note - I just noticed that with the 3x Mag's reflection, the EO gives off a reticle signature from the front...
Hope this helps!
