I am planning on attending the next one in May.

Anyone have any tips? Advice from past experiences?

What is the typical demographic for this course? Prior LE/Mil or is this more geared towards civilians?

I will email USTC, but how far in advance did you sign up? Its almost 8 months away, I'm curious if that is jumping the gun a bit too soon.

I felt it was geared to a beginer. However when I went Kyle DeFoor was the instructor and he accelerated things after assesing the participants as a whole.

8 months is a long way out I wouldn't worry about it yet.

I do have some reccomendations. PM me if you'd like.

There were 8 guys in my class 4 civ, 2 mil, and 2 LEO. Good group.

Here is the link for a course I attended at USTC earlier this year. The AAR is a pretty good. We had mostly Civilians in our course with a few Mil / contractors.

Hello to everyone. This is my first post on M4carbine, though I have been lurking for a long time. :) The Carbine Operator course was great. I attended the Aug 2011 course. I also had a really good group, so things progressed quickly. The instructors were top notch as always. I have done several courses at USTC and highly recommend them all

I went through the class in Oct 2010. I thought it was great. The instructors were obviously very experienced. The first a 27 year SWAT operator and the second a Canadian SPECOPS sniper. The 13 students had a wide array of knowledge and experience with the carbine. The class started with the basis and progressed rapidly. For me it was worth every penny. Back then it was $996, but starting in 2012 there is a significant tuition increase. Save your money and buy quality ammo. I saw folks with 2000 rounds of the cheapest stuff they could find...and they had lots of problems.

I also rec. Tac Pistol 1 &2.
