I've been kicking around the idea of mounting an Aimpoint ML3 on my 6520 and was wondering what options I have. Pics would be nice too if anyone has done this.

Right now it rides in a LaRue mount but I assume I would need to get a different mount to fit the "Z" type bases?

The more I look at this the more "out of place" it seems. However this might be just the place for a micro Aimpoint...

I would look at the ARMS #16A and mount the Aimpoint on top of the carry handle.

For an ML3 you have the following options:

#1 As posted above use the ARMS#16 to mount the sight on top of the carry handle. This is the least expensive route.

#2 Use the forward carry handle mount and a QRP. This will give you a co-witness with the irons and reduce the offset distance option #1 creates. As well the over all profile of the weapon is reduced.

Aimpoint part numbers:
10174 - Forward Carry Handle Mount
11884 - QRP (no spacer needed)

I recommend option #2 as the best solution for a fixed carry handle. These are Aimpoint products used by the Army for M68 CCO’s on fixed carry handles. The ARMS#16 is a good mount my beef is the offset at close ranges.

#3 Change the upper receiver out for a flat top. You will be able to use a magnifier or other widgets behind the sight. You will also be able to use the Micro in a LaRue or GG&G mount for co-witness. I personally prefer this option but it requires effort and $$$ to be done properly.

Thanks guys, I have another LW upper that I switched out the A2 for a flat top. I really wanted to keep this gun in the original configuration.

I will check out the forward mount and QRP.
