I was looking for a scope to mount on my SIG and went to the primary arms website to read up on their 3x prismatic. (since this isn't a shtf weapon, more of a fun gun, i'm not going to put a lot of money into the thing!).

Well I was looking around :neo: and decided to check out the burris tac30 as well and then I saw they have the Millet 1-4x24 DMS Red Dot scope w/ primary arms deluxe mount for 219.00 and free shipping!! I tried to order and it wouldn't allow me to order online yet, so I called Primary in Pearland, TX. Needless to say the guy was surprised because they were just putting this up on the website and hadn't even finished the product description when I called, let alone send out their email blast for the sale!!

So he told me he would call me back in a few and tell me when it was in the system to order, but he assured me it would be today!:fie:

If you're looking for a scope and offset mount setup to see if you like and don't want to spend 200.00 bucks on the mount and another 300-700 for the scope then give it a try. I know Millet isn't the best, but they have a good reputation and for 219.00?! If you subtract the 50.00 for the scope and the 12.00 for shipping that puts the scope in the 150.00 range!!! Not to shabby! ;)

Just went back on the site and the free shipping has been removed, however, this is still a heck of a deal!!!

I haven't heard any feedback, so is this not as good a deal as I thougt it was?

no one replying is probably just that the Millet isn't very well regarded here...

hmmm......I didn't know that!

What about the bushnell 4200 elite 1.25-4x24 30mm tube w/illuminated reticle for 199.00?

When it comes to scopes, price and quality typically go together.

I looked up the bushnell and the cheapest price I could find was 399.00, but I couldn't a review on it.

That's why i'm asking.

My buddy who has his ffl noticed these were on sale from one of his wholesalers for 199.00 and I thought that might be a good deal since I want something better than the millet to mount on my DSA.

Not much of an optics guy. I have a leuopold on ruger 7mm, and a nikon prostaff on my remington .308

To a point. There is a point of diminishing returns and I believe that point is around 1500 dollars. The different between a 1500 dollar scope and a 4000 dollar scope is not going to be realized by about 95% of shooters. Different factors such as fixed vs variable and different illumination methods may affect this price point, but it is a pretty good indicator IMO.

I have to say I've never been much of a glass guy. I thought that if I could make out the target then i'm good to go, but having been a member here for a bit, like everything else this seems to be pretty important.
So I'm stepping into the water......I'm sure a year from now i'll look back at these posts and laugh at myself, but for right now I'm at the begging of the learning curve. So be gentle!

That looks like a pretty good deal. I would go for it if I were you. More than likely you could sell it for what you paid if you did not like it.
