Mr. Vickers,

I was wondering if we could get your thoughts on the growing use of Miniature Red Dot Sights (MRDS) on pistols? The Trijicon RMR in particular appears a popular option that is gaining acceptance in some circles for tactical applications. I've seen some pictures of your RMR equipped Glock 17 from Bowie Tactical and would welcome your comments on the concept. Is this technology mature enough for wider adoption?

Picture of LAV's RMR equipped G17 from Dinger in this thread (http://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=65417)...(AAR of 3 day Vickers Tactical Advanced Combat Handgun Course).

After trying an RMR and a Deltapoint on G17's here are my thoughts:

Great for shooting on the move
Great for shooting at a moving target
Great for those of us with aging eyes (sadly that includes me)
Slower than iron sights at close range (5 yds and in)
Like a laser, it exaggerates the wobble zone so it can make mastering trigger control a challenge (which is a problem for beginners - again just like a laser)
And lastly while we are much closer to where we need to be on the optic itself, we are not quite there yet - I had problems with both the RMR and Deltapoint

I plan on for season two TacTV low mounting (as much as possible) an Aimpoint Micro onto a G17 - although bigger than we might like (as compared to others) it is far and away the most rugged of all the small red dot sights - and the only one I would stake my life on.

Hope this helps
