Hi,
I think this is probably the best place to get an answer, but please redirect me if I am wrong.
I currently run an EO 553, which is the second EOTech sight I bought. At first, I was really happy with it, until I have to shoot under very bright light conditions. Then, I had the surprise to realise that it was not possible to set the brightness setting high enough to make the dot visible on target. I immediatly put a new set of batteries into the sight, with no improvement.
I must say that I was both surprised and disappointed. I remembered that my old 512 was so bright in max setting that it was almost painful to watch through it. I borrowed a friend's 553 to compare, and his does not show the same problem than mine.
I carried on my investigations on this problem (there is a good bunch of EO floatting around here), and found a 552 which shows the exact same problem than my 553, but much worse (the sight is hardly serviceable even in normal daylight).
After a quick search on the Internet, I read that this problem may be caused by a sight improperly filled in with nitrogen (or with a damaged seal). What is the truth behind this ? Is this problem well known ?
As my sight is useable 95% of the time, and as I do not use it for work / home defense, I am not sure yet if I will get it fixed.
However, if I ever change my mind, does EOtech provide some kind of customers service outside of the US (I live in Europe right now) ?
Thanks in advance
