I don’t use varget much but an ad for it showed up in my texts from Brownells. This seems excessive for just a pound. I normally use H-335 and IMR 4895 but i won’t use it at that price

Brownells prices are a f&*king joke. I rarely even open their emails any more.
It's all still plentiful and in the 50 dollar range around here.
I keep Varget on hand for the 6BR, and when testing some 223 or 308 loads. Years ago I moved to VihtaVuori as it burned cleaner in the gas guns, metered better through a measure, and accuracy was comparable or better.
When 8208XBR came along, it performed very similar to VV, and was at a reasonable price point.
Now that Varget and 8208 have dried up, I'm back to shooting VV powders and have enough to last me a few years.
The typical ball powders, such as H335, TAC, 2520, etc work well for general purpose shooting.
In the last week this is the price range I found for Varger locally. I did not buy.
Nobody has anything local but Varget is around $57 per 1LB mail order. The best thing is many places are going Free Hazmat/Free ship a lot lately, seems to rotate between all of them. Keep your eyes peeled and jump when you can. 4 out of 5 places I checked online had Varget 1LB cans in stock.
Got hooked on H4831 (not sc) for my short barrelled 270/280s. Hasn't been around. Saw 1lb at lgs this week. $59.95 before tax. Glad I already have a lifetime supply of hunting bullets loaded up......
