Short answer : M16 BCG has more material (to engage the sear on a select fire rifle) and a shrouded firing pin (helps protect the firing pin).
AR-15 S/A BCG's might have a shrouded firing pin. Most/all AR-15 BCG's will be hollowed out (lighter).
Some people swear there is less recoil with the M16 F/A BCG's... I dunno.
I run M16 F/A BCG's because they are a known entity and if they can handle F/A fire... they should be able to handle my piddly round counts.
