I don't understand the need for those baseplates. Please explain it to me. Thanks.

Not Lee, but extended baseplates make it easier if a mag gets stuck. Also gives you a little more area to grip for mag changes.

zombiescometh explained my thoughts perfectly. It would help with removing a stuck mag. Some people notch out the bottom of their magwell for the same reason. I've also noticed it does feel more comfortable, or fills the palm better, than a factory base plate when working reloads.

SnagMag. Tucks right in the pocket and the little hook keeps it in place during the draw. Looks like a pocket knife or something from the outside. Super low pro but reloads from some positions are more challenging.
