For mail order ammo where are you guys going these days?
I have used Cheaper Than Dirt and The Ammoman in the past. I am also looking at Ammo To Go and SGA. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Personally, I like Palmetto State Armory.
What kind of ammo are you looking for? Rifle or Pistol? Training or Defense?
For rifle training ammo, I've been buying 1200 round cases of IMI XM193 from Wideners (http://www.wideners.com/itemdetail.c...dir=18|830|845). Good stuff, and it's about $0.28 per round shipped.
For pistol training ammo, lately I've been hitting up Palmetto State Armory. They have 9mm 115gr Federal Champion for $9.99 per 50.
As far as defense ammo, I look for whoever has what I want in stock, and at the lowest price. I (fortunately) don't use a lot of SD ammo, so I haven't purchased it in a while.
for plinking rounds I use gun-deals.com to find the best prices.
If you looking for SD/HD ammo, SGAmmo and AmmoToGo usually have a good selection of LE stuff.
I'll second SGAmmo for SD rounds. They usually have very good pricing and the good stuff in stock.
I've also used Ammunitiontogo in the past for SD round had had a good experience, but they seem to be out of stock of what I want recently.
Aside from SD rounds, my guns havn't seen a round factory ammunition since 2008 (except in 7.62X39).
Get most of my stuff from aim surplus. wolf for training at 19 cents a round and privi match 69/75 grain for less than 40 cents a round competition etc.

had some good luck with Glens outdoors in addition to most of the websites mentioned already.
Just have to constantly be checking and wait for a deal, it pays to have a stockpile
luckygunner.com has the a good selection with pretty low prices, but I haven't checked out a lot of these sites that people are mentioning. Just CTD.
I think the answer is based on exactly what you want. I currently do not have any loyalty to any online dealer. I may buy S&B 9mm from LuckyGunner and IMI 5.56 from wideners now but if I find a better deal I may go with that. I'm always making sure people aren't trying to make up the loss on the back end by charging more for shipping.
Gun-deals.com's ammo deals lets me know if some new deal is out there.
I dont see a non-mail order supplier being able to meet or beat all the options people have online these days.
500 rounds of ranger T.....that's a pretty penny... What in God's name do you need with with 500 rounds of HD/SD pistol ammo?
Not that there is anything wrong with a stockpile of course.......
Edit: Oh, and nice taste in 9mm ammo btw.
Widener's here too.
Wideners lately for IMI193.
For the best deals online without searching for hours on end, use:
www.ammoseek.com
They have all the ammo listed by who ever sells it, by the box and or case, plus shipping cost, to give you an over all price per round.
I have had my card # stolen and fraudulent purchases occur TWICE because of ammo to go. Steer clear. I know it was because of their site. The second time, I used a brand new card that no one else knew about besides my local grocery store and Sunoco, who I never have issues with
I have ordered from ammo to go for 3 years now with no issues.
Debit card using pay at the pump? I doubt it. I've been going there for years because it's on the way to work.
ETA: Looks like ATG had some problems with their security certificate in 2010, according to the internets. It's been solved. Many customers' info was being intercepted and used for fraudulent purchases in that year and I was one of them.
So they should be g2g now.
I have purchased thousands of rounds from A2G and never had an issue. I also believe that it probably occurred at the gas station and not through them.
SGAmmo is my favorite vendor.
After that is Palmetto State Armory.
Don't mean to get this post off topic but could someone explain to me how the CC info is stolen at gas stations? I am asking due to this happening to my wife and I last year here in VA. Someone running down I-95 racking up charges and my wife calling me asking if I had my CC with me. I was 'out of town' and over a thousand miles in the opposite direction. A PM will be fine.
Now back to the regularly posted question.
Oh, I have used ammo to go and Glens along with a couple others I can't recall right now. Computer got wiped out a couple weeks ago and I lost all my contacts.
I've placed two orders with this outfit now:
http://www.bulkammo.com/
My first order arrived extremely quickly. The second I should have tomorrow according to the tracking number.
I've added them to my "favorites".
Wideners for all my 5.56
I hate they are out of IMI M193
Ordered my backup PPU M193 from them last week.

Ammo to go
Palmetto State Armory
These 3 places have everything I need and are always the cheapest. Natchez's always has ammo on sale so keep an eye out for the bomber deals.
I've used Palmetto State Armory in the past. I still get their emails and see some goodammo specials every now and then.
Unfortunately it doesn't look like that great price at Wideners will return. I sent them an email today asking if they had any idea when they might have it back in stock. I received the following response:
Quote:
Dear Michael;
We do not expect a shipment any time soon. If we do get it back in stock the price will be much higher as the last shipment came in at the end of 2009.
Yesterday I bought 500 rds. O' Brown Bear from SGammo.com for $107...today I got a steal on Privi Partizian...200 rds. for $60! But you'll have to guess where my LGS is at. They've got ~3,000 round left and I plan on buying every one ;)
Mostly sgammo, palmetto, cheaper than dirt and widners.
sportsmansguide.com is where I've purchased 90% of my ammo...good site with great deals and fast shipping.
EDIT: After seeing multiple recommendations for SGAmmo.com, I checked them out and they are cheaper than Sportsmansguide, regular price vs regular price. However, Sportsmansguide does offer free shipping deals and $10-20 off or $25 gift cards on a fairly regular basis. So with those deals, Sportsmans guide is better. But if there are no promotions, then SGAmmo wins.
Hi new guy here. I have been shooting an M-4 for a while. I was wondering were to get bulk ammo at a reasonable price. Glad I found the sight and thread. I was looking at Cheaper than dirt this morning the had 800 rounds of federal/lake city 5.56 in stripper clip with spoon for like $250. I was thinking of getting it just for the brass and reload it. I reload for everything else I shoot.
Is anybody getting anything from Palmetto this month? Seems their email and phones are not working.. Still taking orders, just nothing coming out. My favorite ammo supply for the last couple of years as well.. 8(Ron
Wideners,
But as of late they have been very slow to ship or have the ability to tell you when your order will be processed at all.
ordered a couple thousand rounds from Freedom Munitions on the 14th of Feb. received tonight. Everything looks to be on the up and up.
There was a processing snafu with them, but resolved quickly through e-mail. Then another snafu with fedex being at my apt while I was not and which location the pkg's were being held at.
My guess without processing and shipping snafu's 10 days order to doorstep.
Off thread track a little, but it is a valid question. Had 2 CC's compromised within a month most likely by a gas station run by grocery store along I-70 by my house last April. Didn't owe anything as the CC anti-fraud software picked it up within 3 days in both cases, but still a pain in the rear to replace compromised cards. (subway sandwich in NYNC, grocery store in Kentucky, and an internet cafe in Vietnam, lol) Police reports were filed and newspaper story follow up gave some details:
Thieves are using wireless card readers easily ordered from the pacific rim and installing them BEHIND the gas pump CC faceplate between the legitimate reader for the gas station and the outside CC slot. Many gas pump stations use a simple "universal key" to open the service faceplate, so it is not hard to source the key either.
Thieves prefer to hit automated 24 hour stations or install it after the station closes or the more brazen have done it in broad daylight. Pumps out of sight of the station clerk are a higher priority target as well.
Bottom line is that you see NOTHING wrong and the thieves just do a drive by and wireless download your data off the fraudulent reader with WIFI. This has been a persistent problem for a little over a year now along the I-70 corridor in Colorado, although it has tapered off lately as retail gas pump operators now know what to look for.
