I'm looking to buy this BCG from a seller in my area. Its a Bushmaster BCG with RockRiver bolt.
I can see where the staking points are, but i'm not sure if it staked the screws properly. Hopefully you can see the pics ok. Thanks for the help!

A top down view would be more helpful.
IMHO from that angle they don't even look like they're touching the screws.
That is what I noticed, so I thought I'd get other opinions.
this is the only pic that the seller posted. I will have to ask him to post a pic of it looking straight down.
If not then just re-stake it.

From what I have learned, the staking should also be visible/done on the screws themselves correct?
Those are not typical screws for Bushmaster (AFAIK). Are you buying this? Unless it is a screaming deal I wouldn't. The carrier is fine, but the RR bolt is most certainly not up to spec.

I haven't bought it yet, but now i'm having doubts. Unless someone can point me to a mil-spec BCG that I can buy in stock for around the same price or less.

He probably had a carrier key for a piston on there, and then removed it, is my guess. Who knows.

I would pass. They don't look properly staked and the bolts are not standard so who knows if they can handle the stress and heat vs. standard.
It looks fine. The bolts are Torx (vice 8-32 x 1/4) and the staking looks adequate.
Rock River's bolt is a crap shoot. They don't proof test nor Magnaflux.

Staked or not, hes right bolts not to spec. and not for that price.Think i would wait..
I wouldn't buy it never seen one with star drive heads on it. Plus that price for that quality is beyond crazy.
The cheapest way I've found to get a BCG at this time is to buy an upper that comes with one and sell the upper if you don't need it.
Got my Colt BCG for $75 and BCM for $150 that way.

I'm typing this trying to figure out why the hero of our story(the seller) didn't get his bolt and carrier at the same place and mixed and matched instead?
Just seems like a strange thing to do!!
Anyway, if you replace the gas key bolts make sure you get the proper ones so gas doesn't leak around them.

Cycle rate on these is around 1000 carriers an hour. There are about 15 of these out there with various manufacturers.
There's a bigger one that this, too.....:D HydroMOACKS.... much faster!

Cliff, I've kept the MOMOACKS off the forums and my site simply because it's something used at the industrial level and I have approached potential customers directly with it. And of course I'll continue to be discreet about who has them but there are a bunch out there. One I guess I can mention since they are out of the picture was Sabre Defence, who was using one on their M16 line that was producing for what I think was the only real gov't contract after Colt and FN. I was kinda surprised that the contract didn't save them from the issues that apparently caused their demise. I wonder where their MOMOACKS (grannyMO) wound up? Pricing is sort of a POR kind of thing but in the 'hood of $3000.
If you sold one to PSA, please call them and give some instructions on how to properly use it. I've seen a couple of carriers from them recently that looked like a gorilla installed them. ;)Quote:
