I completely agree. I think Blade HQ has one of the lowest prices online.

How about Randall Made Knives who go back to before WWII. They supplied a lot of knives to GIs especially during the Vietnam war. Unfortunately they have priced themselves out of competition and the waiting period is 5 years unless you go through a dealer or you buy them elsewhere. http://www.randallknives.com/
Another one is Enedino De Leon who is in the panhandle of Texas and has been producing knives for a long time. His knives are all over the internet. They are excellent in build quality and more affordable than the Randalls.
De Leon does not deal directly with the public even though I bought my knives from him at the Dallas gun show from years ago. Ironically, it seems, you will have better luck contacting people like: http://www.michigancustomknives.com for the De Leon line of knives.

I have a full custom De Leon knife he made for me a very long time ago and it is a functional art! I carried it for work for years and it is on its 3rd sheath and it still looks like new:D
I found 21 pages of De Leon knives here

Crusader Forge.
Not inexpensive to be sure, but not expensive as far as custom made knives are concerned:

I have two from them. Although collectable, they are intended as hard use tools vs something pretty to look at per se.
