They make sense for your situation. For most it would add too much time. I love my Sordins. My son will not go hunting w/o his.

I am more concerned about getting killed, than having hearing damage so I agree. However, it still concerns me, and that is why a suppressed SBR is on my want list for 2018. Right now I address it (probably ineffectively) by using a USGI M1 Carbine for my HD rifle, not my Colt M4.
Tons of good info and food for thought to read through. I went through an unplanned “dry run” a couple weeks ago when my wife woke me up and said she saw a light flash inside the house. What I found out is I have a lot of learn and truly don’t know the first thing about properly clearing my house.
In the land of the blind, the deaf man is still king. I don't care about hearing loss. I care about stopping the threat coming into the house. To that end, I always have a rifle and a pistol nearby. Rifle goes to work first and always unless I can't.
I think Id be more concerned about being able to hear if there are multiple threats walking around and talking in my home and being able to communicate with my family, instead of whether or not I have earpro.
That is why most of the folks have been talking electronic 'amplified' ear pro.
I hope you guys seriously considering going hood hunting in your house really know what you are doing.
Like I hope you have years of experience, training, and are in God's good graces because there is a lot that can go wrong. Especially of you are, playing lone wolf with wife and kids about.
If Dad/Husband/Life Partner is down for the count; what then?
There are trained men who deal with structures/High Risk as a job who die with a weapon in their hands.
I'm all for HD, but something to think hard about.
This stuff isn't easy
You're making a lot of assumptions, but I will boil it down to two camps.
Camp 1- Is you grab your shit and go ninja in the house sneaking and peaking for the bump in the night. This can be dangerous especially if your house is run like a Circle K.
Camp 2- Is you grab your shit, bunker down in a room, call 911 and wait for the shit to come to you. This is usually the safest option.
Of course your particular life situation (kids, entry/exit points into the house), where you are located, etc.. are all part of the equation. This shit really isn't rocket science. It's pretty basic and common sense type stuff.
