I have the opportunity to buy at dealer cost a P226 Blackwater Tactical.
I have searched for opinions on these pistols from experience shooters who put thousands of rounds down range and not just your average plinker, but almost everything I have found on them is from plinkers and that includes the sigforum.
I am sure, other than the bells and whistels, this model is still a P226 at heart. Does the P226 consistently perform anything like the OP's pistol or was that the golden egg in the box so to speak--I'm worried about rumblings I've heard that new Sigs with the alloy rails don't run or last anything like the older production models.
Any input is welcome, and congrats to the OP for his awesome roundcount!!! :D
Color me surprised on that one. Slipping QC, crappy CS and tightfistedness of legendary proportions is what I've come to expect of Sig lately. I work in a gun shop and it is like pulling teeth to get something remedied by them. Not to mention the whole "we're only giving civilians one mag with their $900 gun"
Congrats on 50K!
SIG makes a gun for every minute of the day and their supply chain sucks.
I think they started shipping two magazines again back in June. Problem is, it's a crap shoot when you order from a distributor because you don't know if your getting one mag or two. Don't even try to order direct because it won't be in stock or you will get the industry standard "they will be shipping in two weeks".
Here's something to think about... If a dealer places an order with SIG, they get a 6% discount if they settle with a credit card. WTFO
It should be noted off the bat that for any handgun to go 50,000 rounds with no breakages and to look that good is pretty fuggin' rare. It's not something you should expect every weapon you pick up off the shelf to do.
While Sig has experienced a decline in the quality of their product over the last few years, you have to remember that they were falling from a pretty high standard to begin with. The P226 is a weapon Sig has had out there for a long time in police and military service, and odds are that most of the P226es you can find on the market will exceed the needs of most shooters. I don't know if the BW marked guns include any internal enhancements or if the differences are merely cosmetic in nature, but odds are that if you really want one it will probably be a pretty good handgun by any reasonable measure.
Thanks, I appreciate it. I'm hearing that some of it is hit and miss, that some Sigs even now are awesome, and some are lemons and that the difference between the old Sig and new is that there's just more lemons. Here's a pic of the BW Tactical.http://i586.photobucket.com/albums/s...eld813/bk1.jpg http://i586.photobucket.com/albums/s...ield813/BW.jpg
You can come and clean my pistols any time you want. Beer is on me.
great info, no parts replaced yet? BBL. springs, etc?
Was that Navy P226 that made the 50,000 an alloy frame or an all steel frame?
