Does anyone know if there is a difference between an M4 and an M5 Carbine?
Nope, never heard of an M5
The difference is 1.
Maybe you're thinking MP5 like in HK MP5 sub.
The Colt M5 (AKA LE1020) is thier little know Gas Piston Design, I think it originated at Diemaco, I could be wrong on that.
Been out a while, looks like they repackaged it for this years AUSA.
:)
It is from Sabre Defence.

Per Sabre specifications, the M5 is their designation for the midlength gas block placement.
Colt's M5 is not the LE1020, very different gun- The M5 has a different rail (it's not monolithic like the LE1020), different barrel attachment system, adjustable rate buffer, among other things...
M5 Colt prototype that never made it to production perhaps? http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums...t=72167&page=4
Huh...kind of looks like a KAC/LWRC/Colt bastard child...
Several months back SAR had a piece on the M5 and other Colt prototypes
M5 Leica?
M4, M5; whatever it takes.
I wish Colt would put it out. It would be nice to have a top-tier alternative to the HK416.
Thanks for all the info. I was wondering does anyone have an opinion about Sabre firearms?
When I did the colt armorer recert last year, the instructor said "I don't know why they advertise them, we don't have one built in the inventory that is ready for sale (he wasn't counting the prototype/demo guns) and they don't have any plans or orders right now to sell them"
must be an old design.
i saw this m5 on t.v. when i was a kid.
