Hey Guys,

Hey Guys,
I am really new to the AK. I was wondering if there is a function check to do after re-assembly like there is with the AR, and if so how does one perform it?
1. Pull the charging handle fully aft and let it fly forward. Is it completely in battery?
2. Move the selector to safe. Pull the trigger. Did nothing happen?
3. Move the selector to fire. Pull the trigger. Did the hammer drop?
Probably doesn't need to be said, but you know what they say about that....
0. Check it's unloaded first.
1.
2.
3.
4.While holding the trigger from step three, pull charging handle to rear and let go. Release trigger to ensure it resets and didn't follow the bolt home.
Thanks guys, figured it was similar to the AR, and I have been doing the steps listed above, but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.
I usually add a couple additional steps to the sequence to verify trigger reset / disconnector functionality:
0. Check it's unloaded first.
1. Pull the charging handle fully aft and let it fly forward. Is it completely in battery?
2. Move the selector to safe. Pull the trigger. Did nothing happen?
3. Move the selector to fire. Pull the trigger. Did the hammer drop?
4. While holding the trigger to the rear, smartly cycle the charging handle and let it fly forward.
5. Slowly release trigger. You should feel a click as it resets and the hammer should be retained.
6. Pull the trigger. Hammer should fall.
