Show off your Plate Carriers and pouch setup

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to figure out the best way to setup my plate carrier so if you don't mind posting the way yours are setup that would be great. I know it is all up to me in the end and its a personal choice but it helps to see how others set theirs up so that I can try them out.

Right now I run a Eagle LE PC w/o cummberbun with:

3 Eagle FB M4 pouches in the center
A double Eagle FB G22 pouch on the far left side
A med Kit pouch on the far right side.

I like this setup but I am not sure if it is the best way for me. I know some people run the medkit on the back of the carrier to free up real estate on the front but I "think" I would like to be able to access it myself, until someone gives me a better reason for it being in the back.

So any pics you can post of your plate carrier setups would be great. This will go in my patrol car a few months down the road and I want to have all the options of setup that I can.

You have the right idea. As long as you are not running any comms on the vest, you it is a good idea to have your IFAK up front.

Paraclete/MSA HPC w/o cumerbund. Pouches are (L-R):

HSGI Bleeder pouch
Eagle 40mm pouch (inside is an ALS pocket smoke)
Eagle M4 pouch (shotshell tray inside)
Eagle M4 pouch (shotshell tray inside)

I prefer to keep the back of my carrier slick for several reasons. 1) I dont want gear on the rear to hang up on objects that I might be moving past. 2) I want to be able to sit in a patrol car and drive with the carrier.

Heres my setup right now. I like it even though the "2x4" sticks out some. In the prone it is not as bad as I thought though so thats a plus.

As you can see in the pics, I also have another single FB M4 and a double FB G22 that will allow me to go a different direction if I choose. I am also looking to acquire a few more "1x2"' FB's if I can find any.

Is that an XL carrier? Also, dont those 2x4/1x2s interfer with the pistol mags on your belt?

Yes those combo pouches get in the way. Right now my plan is to have a whole other set of pistol mags already on that carrier. That way I wont need to fumble with the belt mounted mags at all.

I am also thinking about running the non-combo pouches for just that reason. I might run 3 FB M4's across the front and a pistol FB on the far left.

Right now I am trying to play around with different setups a lot and figure out what will work best. I have the time bc I am not yet an officer. There will always be pro's and con's to a setup but with enough work I hope to have more pro's than con's.

If I carry pistol mags on a plate carrier/chest rig, I don tuse them to reload from. I'm most comfortable going to my belt for pistol reloads so thats what I stick with. I use the rig/carrier mounted pouches to refill empty pouches on my belt.

I see. Thats good thinking to keep the muscle memory the same for where you feed your mags from. I would rather do that also, maybe I will change this up again. I will post more pics of how it evolves.

Whats your opinion on running a single FB M4 pouch on your normal duty belt if policy allows?

Think it would depend on the area you work and the other gear you have to carry. As of right now; I am unable to place an AR mag holder on my duty due to al of the gear I have to carry daily. You might be better served by placing a Redi-Mag on your patrol rifle (if it is allowed).

Thats a good point. I have no time with a Redi Mag but I would like to try them out. Also, how do you feel about having just a chest rig type loadout in the trunk? I know you lose the hard plate security but its another idea I have been thinking about using.

If you are going to have a chest rig in the trunk; you might as well have the plate carrier sitting there. If you are going to spend time going to trunk to throw something on, might as well put some plates on too.

Another option is to have something like the Eagle patrol bandoleer/active shooter bag up front with you and and the carbine.

Good thinking on the bandoleer. I was thinking the same thing on the plates situation. They both probably take about the same time to put on and one has the plate coverage. Kinda a no brainer.

^^ Thanks for the pics. Looks like that is what I will buy. I'll fit it with level III plates as well so I can wear it over my uniform and concealed soft armor when on duty or just throw it over my shirt when off duty.
