New Trijicon RMR Type 2 purchased 2018.
Any need for the "seal plate" p/n RM63? I believe this was a remedy for the type 1 that had the "flickering battery problem"?
Still water proof without? Or just do it for waterproof insurance as the cost is minimal.
New type 2 manual states it is "recommended". Left over from the type 1 solution?
What are your thoughts?
FWIW - Brownells RMR G19 Slide. Use the shorter screws that come with the slide?
It's recommended, and it's a $10 part on +/- $1200 pistol. Just get one, then you don't have to worry about it. My son's RM06 didn't fit right regarding screw length until the sealing plate was installed.
Oh, make sure you don't use a "long" screw on the Right side mounting hole, or it can bind the extractor plunger rod. (On a milled Glock slide. I dunno about the brownells version. )

The flickering on the Type 1s has nothing to do with the sealing plate, AFAIK; more of an issue with the contacts, and the sealing plate gives you something to easily add a bit of Shoe Goo or whatever. The BattleWerx anti-flickering plate had a raised area to help with this, but they will **** up your contacts on the Type 2s. The waterproofness issue can easily be seen by looking at the mounting of your gun, and seeing if any of them are inside of the rubber gasket of the RMR.
Is the seal plate required for them to stand behind warranty work?
Trijicon won't pay for shipping if you need warranty work

People have done this to their cell phones and the waterproofing works
I have a plate installed on mine... 10 bucks seems like cheap insurance
Though it does seem trijicon is gouging

The sealing plate does just that, it seals the bottom of the optic when mounted on a slide or mount with thru holes. It has nothing to do with the battery contacts. The Type 2 doesn’t need the battlewerx plate and is not recommended. And yes, they are expensive for what they are.
