Here's the first trial- sorry for the crappy pic. You can see the slots in the heatsheild will allow direct mounting to the rail.

I hope they release the heat shield and plasic covers ASAP. This thing gets effin hot. I don't want to use a bunch of rail sections because that would defeat the purpose of such a light rail.
I pretty much decided to wait on these things, and a VFG, before I buy. It kind of dawned on me that, by itself, the NSR was pretty useless to me right now. If I want to get burned I have Troy brazilian handguards for that and if I want to shoot comfortably I have my DD M4 with index clips.
Yeah I was able to handle one of the NSR railed rifles yesterday, and while it is a super slick, lightweight rail system, your hand is literally within 1/2" from the barrel. It has the smallest diameter of any rail I've handled. I know I wouldn't want to shoot long strings of fire without some kind of heat shield...I just wonder how much weight the heatshield will add?
The NST shoots quite a few rounds through our rifles...both TRX E and NSR railed rifles. We don't really seem to notice the heat as an issue in either set up, we don't shoot with gloves on either.
That really shouldn't be a requirement not to get burned.
I tried with gloves on but all I had was those cheap mecvhanix gloves I normally use. After a few magazines this thing gets pretty hot.
It's manageable but I'm excited to try it out with a heat shield and some of those plastic panels. Awesome rail.
LOL, you don't notice the heat because you are guys are MEN! :D
I personally hate heat shields in rails (tear them out). Why? They trap heat more than help. I don't like rail covers. Why? They add bulk.
I like you, I do some shooting without gloves on, but for long (8-9hr) training days, I wear gloves. Just too many hot things (like suppressors) and sharp things to hurt myself on.

Oh goodie, here we go with the bullshit "men" nonsense, and other "I'm so tough my skin don't burn" crap. Doesn't affect you? Awesome. You win at internets.
:jester:
Christ on a cross, nobody's bashing the product, everyone's paycheck is safe, some people would just prefer to see the whole package with all of the accessories.
After some drama, mine was installed today. 13.5" on a 16" barrel.

This thing is so light it makes my n4 low pro feel like a pig. Damn now I need a T1.
