Spikes 14.5" with 15" Rail Build

I was thinking I have not seen anyone with a 15" rail on a 14 1/2" barrel in any posts or pics online as the 15" is kinda new..

so I bought a Spikes 14 11/2" Carbine Barrel from DSG

grabbed a basic BAF forge marked upper (sq mark) from Del-Ton.

and tossed on a Troy 15" Alpha rail.. (from prior 18" build that I sold to fund this expedition)

drill/tap/setscrew/weld the KIES Comp (you could use any LINEAR comp/brake that would fit under the handguard)..

at the business end of it..

I got a MagPul MBUS Gen 2 set here and Bushnell TRS25 coming in for it..

ETA** I have a new Spikes BCG also.. total was $649 with the BCG & Troy Alpha (if bought new).. (not w/ the MBUS or TRS25)

Can't wait to get to the range with it..

Its a LINEAR >>> Comp.. and 1 1/4" hanging out the end..

I don't see any issues with this upper build..

Heres a prior pic on my pistol lower before I got the Comp in-hand today..

A handstop would be a worthy investment, if nothing else when running it hard or in a course your support hand doesn't get destroyed by slipping over the muzzle end when firing.

Most definitely, IWC, Magpul, KAC, and Gear Sector all make good ones. Hell, you could even chop down a plastic/polymer VFG like others have. The last thing M4C needs is another thread like the Negligent Discharge/ Glock .45 or This.

changing things up hopefully tommorrow on this..

Troy is not shipping the 15" Alpha I ordered last Friday.. there backordered till end of month.. just got the verbal over the phone today..

They are sending me the VTAC Alpha 15" so all is not lost.. (got tracking for that 1 hour later)..

I had to order my A3 upper from Ranier for this as Del-Ton is being stupid as well.. still pending from Saturday order date.. said shipping by end of week..

eventually this will be really done.. the mock-up photos I took will only change with the handguard being the VTAC..

The TRS25 & riser finally shipped today also.. 2 days later from OpticsPlanet..

in other news I got paid for my 18" SPR upper to cover all the funds I just spent to get this done..

I just want the parts so I can PAINT them..

I may get an RVG or AVG for this.. good idea..

I like that you drill'd/tap'd and set screwed the Comp. What size tap did you use?

    Thanks..

I do that on all my Comps/Hiders that need pinning/welding..

I figure out what side to be on the bottom.. then remove and drill.. then put on again.. and dimple the muzze abit.. then remove and tap with 8-32 TAP set from Lowes.. I have some very tiny 8-32 x 1/8" setscrews I got from a place on-line.. like $2 for 20 or something this past fall. after that I hit it with the mig welder and then clean it up a lil with dremel and then hit with 500' flat engine paint..

If I use say a Spikes Dynacomp or BCM one with pre-drilled hole I use the pin they include or whatever fits their pre-drilled hole..

Just want this done and out shooting with it.. it was pretty swingable and lightweight when I had it assembled for mock-up..

Final pics.. added a MOE stock.. and ditched the TRS25 plans.. (didn't like the small tube)..

Took it to range with 140 rounds of brass an Wolf WPA.. 0 issues..

@ 100 yards with MBUS set... good to go..

I made the mistake of adjusting the MBUS at home before the 2nd outing this past Saturday..

Still @ 100 yards with the MBUS I hit the target and came up with a 6" group while kneeling..

I also hit a gallon milk jug @ 150 yards while kneeling also.. 6x out of 15.

I need to adjust up and right.. busy helping 2 others sight in there rifle irons and red dots..

Overall with 280 rounds with 0 issues.. VERY
