    Magpul charging handle

I was trolling patents on Google today when I ran across this.

Has anyone heard anything about it? The patent date is fairly recent (September 2011). The folding latch is pretty interesting, it'd give you a lot more leverage without getting caught on everything. At least in theory, anyway.

You think it will be made of polymer and come in different colors? I'll take an OD green one.

Thats something that I would never want in plastic.

Looks like the folding latch would make operating the charging handle a bitch too.

Since when does the stock latch get caught on everything?

Well, I give them credit for trying to innovate but im not seeing all the advantages of that design. Now the new Ambidextrous charging handle from AXTS looks pretty sweet

looking at those drawings from the patent and from what seems to be the intended operation, why would you want to introduce force into a second place (ie Z axis)? It looks like it would almost create a moment of force as you pull back on the folding latch.

Not the stock one, think Mod 3 on the Gunfighter.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the mod 5 shorter than the 4 or 3 with the 3 being the longest?

You are correct. The furthest to the right is the stock Charging handle

I don't think I would run one of these on my AR, maybe my law mower though :/
