How tight should the barrel fit in the reciever?

A while back I bought a Vltor MUR for a precision build. I finally got a barrel made for it, a WOA stainless. When I test fit the two together, the barrel slid right in without forcing it at all, and in fact is a bit loose. Is this acceptable for a precision build? Will the process of torqing down the barrel nut eliminate any movement?

It should slide in and out without much effort. For extreme accuracy some put red Loc-Tite around the bbl extension when installing it.

I wouldn't have recommended it if it doesn't work. I also lap the front of the upper receiver face before barreling.

I only do it for uppers that are going to be free floated and that will have magnified optics. My theory is that for people using non-magnified optics (Aimpoints/EOTechs), they don't need it as they won't even 'see' the difference.
