Eye relief with Aimpoint Micro H-1 and 3x magnifier

I was using an Aimpoint PRO/3x with twist mount magnifier combo. I had no problem with eye relief. I could have my face 6-8" behind the 3x and get a full FOV. So I put the Micro H-1 on there and now I have eye relief issues. Its like looking through a straw. Is it because of the 20mm tube size on the H-1 or something else?

Its about 1.5cm behind. I moved it to 8mm distance (as close as possible) and no change. It doesn't seem to be a matter of the distance between the 2 though, because I took the mag off the mount and had it about 6" behind and as long as my eye is right up to it its fine, but as soon as my eye gets farther back I start looking through a straw.
