    M16A1 with a sight rib

    An idea that went nowhere in the era before optics were commonplace. Interesting concept, though:

    Interesting enough. Looks like the AAI entry into the Advanced Combat Rifle program around the same time.
    Experience is a cruel teacher, gives the exam first and then the lesson.

    I think the Colt ACR entry that fired the Duplex Round had these incorporated into the design
    My brother saw Deliverance and bought a Bow. I saw Deliverance and bought an AR-15.

    Colt ACR concept from back in the day:

    I guess the "thumb over bore" technique wouldn't work with these rifles.

    Very interesting! Makes me glad red dot sights were developed.
