New/Different LC Primer Crimp

I just bought a few boxes of Federal XM193 and the primers where crimped like I've never seen before. This may be old news, but it's the first of these I've seen. Might make removal a bit easier, or unneeded?

I'd say you are still going to need to swage or ream.

I've heard that IIRC Winchester primers have a slight taper that will assist in slipping by crimps. I can neither confirm or deny. I ream all my scavenged brass regardless.

I have some Greek 30-06 that has the primers staked, although not that heavily, They should come right out when reloaded..Like the Greek cases, since these are staked, the primer pocket may not be crimped, and therefor may not need swaged, It'll be interesting to see what happens when you run one through a press..

Looks like European style crimp. You will still need to remove them to seat primers. If you haven't got a Dillon go buy it unless you own a 1050 which has one built into it.

Oh thats diffrent, the cripm is only for belt fed weapons as far as I know

Its just standardization. With the A1 its easier for ATK to do it this way on all. Same cases across the board as far as 5.56 goes

Thanks Stump, but just to get additional feedback...

So, just de-cap and then swage/ream as the standard crimp? Just looking for a definitive answer from others who have run across these...

Anyone else done these?
