I'd pass on this gun just because the lower isn't a real forging. But I'm nuts.
I'm with you on the forging thing. But LWRCi does make good barrels.

However... from what I understand they're ported for piston guns.

Since when does LWRC own a hammer forging machine? I thought the only sources in the US for hammer forged barrels were Ruger, Daniel Defense, FN and Remington.

I had one of the older Troy M7 uppers and after speaking with Troy was told by them that the original uppers were sporting Noveske barrels. I'm not sure this means anything now other than they didn't seem averse to using good parts.

The Troy I handled Friday had a FA carrier.

Well I went and bought the only one the Dick's closest to me had. Personally, I think it pretty nice. Mine is serial # 58_ but still came with a certificate. For all the high quality features, I think it was a good deal at $989.99 + tax.

Trigger seems on par with other AR's I've had and shot. Lightweight especially considering I had a RRA Elite Op.2 Stock might be butt ugly but highly functional. There is some slight play in the stock but nothing out of the ordinary. I didn't take it apart yet but I'm ok with a SA BCG.

Troy Defense website says modifying the mag. voids warranty??
I've only bought one other gun at a big box store years ago. The store mgr. last night had me fill out a safety declaration form and then after I cleared NICS and paid, escorted me out of the store AND then handed me the rifle? This is what we've come to in America.

Once tested, the rifle will serve as a patrol carbine. I need the rails and sling mount for it now. Sling it, sight it, and light it and it will be GTG.

Well, this is what Dicks has come to or, rather, what they do. As far as I know, it is a corporate policy. They did the same when I bought a 22LR bolt-action Savage rifle.

I bought some pistols at the BX on McChord AFB recently and they made me fill out some silly safety paperwork, escorted me all the way to me car, handed them to me and told me to get them off the base within 1 hour. I guess AAFES doesn't trust us military people with guns.

$989.99 plus tax? It's 1099 at all the Dick's here. I wonder if there's a sale or what the reason for the discrepancy.
