    federal m855

just found 4 420 round cases of federal m855 fmj green tip 62grn on stripper clips for 164.00 per case. These are 5.56 and I would like to know if they have the crimped primers and if this is a good deal. I reload and do not have the proper die for removing the crimped primers and think the die is around 90.00. Thanks for any info in advance.

If you want to know if it's a good deal, search the net and see what it sells for.

This is good ammo. The primers are crimped and you will need to ream or swage the primer pocket before you reload. This is good brass for reloading.

If you reload for .223 at all you will eventually need a primer pocket swager.

    This is the good one.http://www.dillonprecision.com/conte...uper_Swage_600

I have had less luck with the RCBS kit, it usually tears the rim.

I tried this one, too, and it generates the same problem:

About nominal price, and is what I see it going for in the wallyworlds around here. I think there is a crimp remover that can be used to make reloadable, but not exactly sure if you need special tool to de-prime.

This stuff is XM855 right? That is what I was under the impression with this, if it is honest M855 and not the seconds, then I will be going down to pick up a box or three for the stockpile.

I really like this 62gr' Ammo,it's great stuff...I like the 420 Round Cans with the Stipper Clips, but I also like the 420 Round Cans with the Green Box American Eagle.I wish the Wally Worlds here would start stocking it again. But with just about all of it going to supply the Gov' Contracts, that's not going to be happening anytime soon.

Odd my WM just started stocking that stuff, the American Eagle Green Boxes. I bought the 1st one they got in. $164 for 420 was the best "in store" price in my area.

Same here. I stopped in the coral springs Wally world and picked up a can. They had 2 or so left

Or for around $10, ream them with a Hornady reamer.

It is Impossible for the rcbs swager 2 kit to rip off the rim of a case. From your comment i doubt you have ever used one. It in no way holds the rim of the case.

+1 I have used the Hornady reamer on damn near every manf/surp ammo with good results.

I have used the RCBS primer pocket swager die to prep 1000s of pieces of 5.56/.223 brass, and I use the Lee deluxe rifle die set, w factory crimp. So using the swager set makes it easy to reload crimped brass
