I've spent entirely too much on guns in 2014. Geeze...need to slow down. Three suppressors, four AR's, a couple unicorn pistols and bolt gun, the 553, a Wilson Combat Beretta, etc.

Just go for it. I think we will never see the 553s as low in price as they are now. In a few years I can guarantee you won't look back and wish you had not purchased a second 553.

Bonus time in one week and then taxes...if I've reversed the trend and am getting a refund (vs. paying more than a pair of 553's each of the last couple of years), I'm all about it as I don't have to use a good portion to cover the tax bill. Might even sell my 551-A1 if so though its a lot nicer than the 556 DMR I used to have.

I rail mounted diopter is sweet. I've been eying that thing forever on cogunsales. Just haven't taken the plunge.

Also, I start my new job in two weeks (almost double my current pay). If a 553 is still around after I pay off the rest of my bike, I'm gonna pick one up.

I either have to buy one or cancel my email notification to this thread because I cannot continue to endure hearing about them without owning one. Haha. Im glad this thread is extremely lacking with photos because that would make it unbearable.

If I remember correctly I'm pretty sure they were a little bit more at Colorado gun sales. When I was eyeballing them The last time I think it was 700 before shipping. That is crazy high and is the only reason that I have not purchased it.

I purchased one with the rail and am having Turner weld on a diopter I got from a 551 parts kit. When the stamp comes back, I'm looking forward to putting a lot of rounds through it.

Sweet! How are you doing? Is he going to cut the back part of the rail off? Or is he somehow going to modify it to make it fit over the rail?

Very cool K.O.A.M. Please post photos when it's done. Have you thought about refinishing it in gray ilaflon and adding a gray steel lower?
