I would have to look on the S&W forum to be sure, but I'm pretty sure the timing was controlled by the extractor that was fitted to my 642 which I swapped over.
I measured the cylinder gap with feeler gauges and it was as small or smaller than my original cylinder.
As I said before, I had it in the gun for 3 years, shot about 80 round with no issues.
I don't want to hijack this thread, but if you Google "install titanium cylinder in J frame" or something like that, you should find the correct threads on the S&W forum easy enough.

Edited to add: TC2, PM sent.

Did I miss it? Did the J-frame break or did Greg quit trying? Finally going to get a 642 for myself after a year of wanting, and this thread is the main reason. This will be my first revolver and I'm super excited as I think it will become a valuable tool in my ccw rotation. Thanks for the inspiration.

I traded the gun in a fit like a dumbass. It was still running great.
Let those who are fond of blaming and finding fault, while they sit safely at home, ask, ‘Why did you not do thus and so?’I wish they were on this voyage; I well believe that another voyage of a different kind awaits them.”

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger. I have been carrying a Glock 43 about 50 % of the time lately and my J Frame is considering filing for divorce.

Fortunately for you, there is still time to repent from your sin by getting another 642 or 442.

Riots are like sports, it's better to watch it on TV at home.

I took the J Frame out to the range today and hit 5,644 rounds. The J Frame stills feels comforting to have along when running to the store or the gas station.

Nah. G43 for all of us that gave Greg Bell a hard time for embarking on this path in the first place.
