New "Violence Tax" Proposed On Legal Illinois Gun Owners

The blame game is as relentless as it is hollow. Chicago now wants legal gun owners to pay for the cost to treat and incarcerate criminals. Even if it doesn't pass, just that it can be seriously considered is alarming.

"Summers said gun violence costs the government in a number of ways, including the $143 a day it costs to keep someone in jail. Further, he said it costs $52,00 on average to treat a gunshot victim without insurance in the taxpayer-backed local hospital."

Why not a DUI tax for owning a car or alcohol? All these gun laws are working great in Cook County.

Seems like a county wide tax so they can nab those living outside the city limits (assuming the county includes more than just Shitcago).

I think the citizens should in return impose a stupid tax on Shitcago residents or maybe even a sack of lieing shit tax on public officials.
