Since you decided on the barrel length, I would go ahead and start the Form 1 now if you're going that route. You'll have 6 months to figure out what you're trying to get out of your rifle.

For lightweight build, I would recommend either the NSR or Troy Alpha rail. Last time I weighed some sights, the DD front and rears weighed less than my magpul sights. Ummm ... yeah that's all i got for now lol

That's interesting... And yeah I'd also look at the Noveske NSR, with more and more things coming out that'll accept the keymod, that's less of the rail "middleman" you'll need.

Now decide on a (with some suggestions)

    1. SS or CL barrel. (Noveske, Daniel Defense, Centurion Arms or BCM)
    2. Switchblock or Lo Pro Gas Block or FSB
    3. Noveske NSR rail for slick type or Centurion Arms for picatinny type
    4. Might as well just get matched set of upper/lower from Noveske
    5. VLTOR A5 receiver extension with spring and buffer and castle nut
    6. LPK from G&R Tactical (with GI Trigger or without trigger and then get a Geissele SSA Trigger)
    7. Magpul CTR
    8. BCM Gunfighter Charging Handle Mod 4
    9. BCM mod O pistol grip
    10. Noveske QD End Plate
    11. BCG from Noveske, BCM, DD, LMT
    12. Troy BUIS
    13. Tango Down Stubbie
    15. Assortment of Magpul P-Mags and GI Mags
    16. Tools to build do a search
    17. SSDSurf has a channel on Youtube with step by step build instructions
    18. Muzzle Device: Start with a Battle Comp or an A2 unless you know you are going suppressed down the road.
    19. I am sure someone will point out anything I missed

    Good luck

Be careful about going too light with a short rifle. There is a trade off between weight and performance. A rifle that is too light can become harder to control. As an example, if your rifle is too light, a 1 to 5 drill or a half drill will become slower because you will have to fight to keep on target when shooting faster.
An 11.5 barrel with a standard government profile barrel and a 9 or 11 inchTroy Alpha or Bravo rail (Example only) would be quite light and quite controlable.

I'd agree with all of that except I like the Gen II MBUS over the Troy sights. They're much quicker and easier to pop up and slap down then the Troys.

    That is a good point.

If she is going to start out with an RDS and not train much with irons then Gen II MBUS is probably a good idea. If she is going to start out with irons or use them regularly (like we all should) then Troy would be my recommendation.

I've been thrilled with my FN 10.5 so far. Never thought I'd go shorter than 11.5, but I really like this 10.5. Runs good with the A5 stock system.

Sorry to possibly add more decisions to the mix, but I think it was recommended already....Have you looked into the Knight's Armament SR15-E3?

    - Top-notch quality & reliability
    - Long-life bolt design
    - Light weight
    - Ambidextrous lowers
    - Available as factory SBR's (no hassle with engraving)
    - Hammer forged 11.5" barrels
    - Available with short or long hand-guards depending on what you want (length vs. weight)
    - Come with great low profile back-up iron sights
    - Fantastic customer support

I personally built my 11.5" guns from scratch to my own specs...but there is certainly something to be said for getting a factory complete SBR from a company like KAC, or even Colt with their 11.5" factory SBR options...They may be worth a look for you.
