Question about VZ58 options

I've been wanting to get a VZ58 for the past few months and with a Christmas bonus in the not-so-distant future, it might be possible to get one. I know that a few companies have put them together as kit builds with U.S receivers in the past, but those seem to have dried up. I know of two viable options right now:

Here's the Century VZ2008 The price is obviously more attractive, but what is sacrificed, if anything, in quality? I understand that these have barrels that are not chrome-lined. How big of an issue is that with the rapid fire of non-corrosive 7.62x39? (Wolf, Tula, Golden Tiger, Brown Bear, etc) It's nothing for me to shoot a up to 500 rounds during one trip to the range and sometimes more. Would a non-chromed bore hold up to that volume of fire for an acceptable (measured in years) amount of time?

The other option is the SA VZ58 Military from Czechpoint. The big selling point for this to me is the fact that it's completely Czech except for the trigger group and magazine follower/floor plates. It features a cold hammer forged and chrome-lined barrel. I know that it will hold up to my volume of shooting. My one concern is that it is made by Czech Small Arms, a company that appears to be a civilian-oriented manufacturer; not Česká zbrojovka, the arsenal responsible for producing VZ58s for the Czech military. Is there a difference in quality/reliability because of that or are they essentially the same rifle?

Is the $339 price difference between the rifle from Czechpoint and the Century VZ2008 worth it? Would the VZ2008 suit my needs well enough or should I spend the extra money? I'd like to get the VZ2008 because then I would have more money for ammunition and magazines, but I don't want this at the cost of sacrificing longevity, durability and reliability. Are there any owners of either rifle here who can chime in with their experience?

Yes yes yes, Czechpoint is the only way to go. Amazing quality rifle, i have wanted one for a while now.

owning both the czech point and vz2008, bought the 08 for my beater gun, but a friend practically begged me to sell it to him so i did, but kept the original wood furniture for my czechpoint vz. if you want as close to an an original vz58...obviously the czechpoint is the way to go, if you dont really care where its made and want a cheap version of it...the vz2008 is for you.

I've handled both - I bought the Czechpoint. The differance and the quality are real. Consider it cheap insurance.

Also note that Dan @ czechpoint will damn near bend over backwards to give you service should you ever need him. Good luck getting anything other than getting blown off or insulted from Century.

Oh my God, stay faaar away from VZ2008, my buddy purchased one and it was a mess. Really shoddy workmanship and appearance. Sights were damaged at some point between factory and gun store so they were a bitch to adjust, mags well was not prepped right for Czech 30rnd mags...you get my point. Almost 6 months later,I literally stumbled upon one, a Czechpoint , at a gun shop that caters primarily to deer and duck hunters. Story goes that someone had asked owner to order it, never left a deposit as he was a "friend of a friend" to someone owner knew and skipped out on picking it up. I bought it and a ton of mags.Took my buddy to range one day with our Czech rifles and after two mags through each rifle, my buddy sold his VZ2008 at a loss the following week and ordered the same exact Czech point model I had. Never looked back...

What can you guys tell me about the polymer trigger in the Czechpoint VZ? Any issues? Seems like a strange idea to make it out of polymer when they made the sear and disconnector out of 4140 steel. Why not make the trigger out of 4140?

If you weren't told it was poly you probably wouldn't notice unless you're the kind of guy who pulls on his trigger so hard you jerk the muzzle ten feet off target. It has been tested ad nauseum, it doesn't break, its a non-point. Think of it like a Glock tigger. In fact, the VZ is striker fired, so think of it a LOT like a glock trigger. I've never out a metal trigger in my Glock. If it TRULY bothers you, there actually is a drop in aftermarket steel trigger - that being said I've never bothered on mine. I like it as is.

No issues as stated above. I always lay into spare parts and orthy factory/aftrrmarket accessories when I purchase a battle rifle and a steel trigger was not in my "need" list...ammo, mags & maybe a red dot and mount.
