Attempted to use the search function... What are the benefits of using a supressor on a semi auto rifle (an ar-15), in a rapid-fire close-range situation?
Particularly, I am wondering what the advantage is versus a good muzzle brake.
As far as I see now, some of the key advantages are lack of flash and lack of volume.
Is the recoil impulse affected for the better for faster follow up shots?
Is it worth the weight penalty? Is it worth the purported increase in fouling?
I can understand in a precision rig situation the multitude of advantages shooting suppressed, but not exactly in a CQB type situation.
