    Do you mean to reduce the size of the gas port? I imagine it's possible, but it'll certainly have detrimental effects. Welding changes the heat treating around it, and warps things (they pull towards the weld).

    I wouldn't trust it at all. I'd much rather do an insert in the gas block.

    Believe me... I asked a kid we know who has a welder... "can you weld this FSB shut?" His welder wouldn't get into that confinement. alternatively... welding on the barrel would not fly with me.
