The weather finally broke here and I got to the range today.
Got to try out my new Macvon Armory .45 D.I. upper.
I stopped by Academy and picked up targets and 100 rounds of Monarch 230 gr. FMJ. It was cheap and I wanted to see if the upper would cycle with cheap ammo.
The upper has a:
mil spec upper receiver
M.I. Key-Mod Gen ll hand guard
M.I. SPLP folding BUIS
Rainier Arms BCG--Rudy replaced the bolt with a custom .45 bolt
Macon Armory .45 16" barrel with A2 FH .45 cal 5/8"
Lower is mil spec
Macon Armory Mag block adapter for .45 ACP.
Carbine buffer and spring.
The .45 D.I. upper ran without a hitch. Slow fire, rapid fire. Not one malfunction.
Accuracy with the Cheap 230 gr. Monarch was 2-3" at 50 yards.
Recoil is very mild. Easy follow up shots.
This upper is literally a blast to shoot. It's a lot of fun and makes a thump when you hit the back stop.
My camera went down before I could get any shots of the targets.
My old Hakko also went down so I was shooting with irons.
Rudy at Macon Armory answered all my questions and was great to talk with. Just a good ole boy. He's done a real nice job with these.
I like it!
It would make a nice pistol with a shorter barrel.
