Out of the game for a while...questions.

So, I got married, had a kid, moved several times and now am back in the hunt for some AR stuff.

    MY TIMING SUCKS!!!

Anyway, have a question which may lead to more questions.

I live in Virginia, we do NOT have an AWB anymore.

So if I get an AR, does the term pre-ban and having a lower with a serial # dated prior to the original AWB in 1994?? have anything to do with what type of accesories I can LEGALLY add to the lower.

Nothing will be registered, it's not manditory. But I will use the weapon in a home defense situation possibly so I need to pay attention to legality.

Obviously I've looked around here on the EE and "pre-ban" lowers are WAY more expensive than other lowers.

    Please educate me.

I'm thinking as of right now, all you're seeing "pre-ban" are lowers being sold in ban states. Since you no longer have a ban on them, just buy a regular lower (if you can find one).

I wouldn't waste any time though with the goons in DC trying to put something together that doesn't make sense.

pre ban means they were produced before the introduction of the 94 awb and didn't carry the same reproach.

Pre ban means nothing to you in your state.

As far as timing is concerned as you may be aware pricing will take months to begin to "normalize". Maybe up to a year? If you have the funds now go ahead suck it up and buy. If prices go down you may loose a little. But deprecation value will not compare to your vehicle.

Have you narrowed it down to which brands you are interested in?
