This news broke here in Germany about two years ago, and Visier magazine (the preeminent shooting mags over here) conducted a comprehensive shooting test on them last year. There were some minor wear problems at the 3,000 round mark, but nothing too serious -- and this is wholly consistent with the characteristics of the originals. Quality is sky high, and accuracy/shootability were generally quite good.

The problem, as observed elsewhere, is the price. Since these are essentially hand-built, they are already prohibitively expensive by German standards, and given the exchange rate right now, that puts them in "nice used car" territory for those of us on the US Dollar. I'm glad they brought the StG back, but I probably won't ever own one.
