It is tax on firearms. It is not a tax on hunting.

A hunting license is a tax on hunting. The PR tax should be done away with and federal duck stamps should be increased to make up the money.

If we can charge an excise tax on firearms, why can't we have a poll tax to keep all the freeloaders away from the voting booth?

Having a firearm is a constitutional right but its taxed in several ways.

Voting is not a constitutional right, but we can't charge a poll tax.

Also, the PR act is where the whole "the only legitimate use of a firearm is for hunting" bullshit started.

The rights enumerated in the Constitution are not the only rights that the People have.

    Just sayin'.

Pittman-Robertson is the name of that Tax. I already discussed it.

Anything that requires action out of someone else cannot be a "human right".

There's no right to health care because that would mean another human would be morally, ethically, legally required to give something to someone else.

    Same goes for education.

Please pardon the stupid question; in NJ in order to be able to buy any firearm, be it a handgun or long gun you have to first get a Fire Arms Purchase ID Card... Similar to that of IL. The fee's for this end up being somewhere around $65-$70 once all the fingerprinting and stuff is done.

To me it seems like a fee to exerciser my right, would this not also me unconstitutional?

Declared "safety" measure trumps guaranteed rights anytime.

If you had to pay a fee and be evaluated to make sure you aren't insane or a criminal to vote in an election every major urban city would be on fire.
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

    Chuck, we miss ya man.
