    What is a shoulder-less barrel?

Or what does that mean? Are there pros / cons to shoulders on a barrel since there are obvious advantages to shoulders on a person?

    Thanks

Ohhhh... that makes sense, derp. The context is this:

"The Hanson is a propriety profile which we designed with master AR-15 armorer Clint Hanson. The barrel utilizes a shoulder-less profile and the weight has been optimized for the smoothest action and optimal barrel harmonics."

And I think it means that there is no shoulder near where the gas block goes.

If the barrel is intended to be paired with a free floated hand guard, then the shoulder by the gas block isn't needed. The shoulder serves to locate the handguard cap.
