    Put down the Dremel!

A customer recently purchased a high quality Bolt from us. Today, he sent us an e-mail stating that he was unhappy with the Bolt's quality due to the fact that he could not get a Cam Pin to pass all the way through the hole in the Bolt.

In order to "Fix" the problem, he took a Dremel tool to the back side of the Bolt and opened it.

Before you try and "Fix" a problem, please make sure you know what you are talking about FIRST.

Ya, I know, but what is shocking is that the guy is arguing with me that I am WRONG.

Nothing more dangerous than having just enough knowledge to get in trouble.

So was this an email to advise that the bolts were 'out of spec' but he figured out a fix? I wonder where that bolt is right now...

Polymorpheous's sig line came to mind when I read this.

So did the guy shoot his AR after his little modification?

It's never even occurred to me to put a cam pin in a bolt if the bolt wasn't in the carrier.

At first I thought he was trying to put it in backwards...but apparently this dude was pissed off that it didn't stick out the other side? Jesus.

Don't be too hard on the guy, he probably had an Olympic where that was possible and was using that experience to judge this on.
MarkM...anything like that in your Oly archives?

Ok, so I'm newbie (but learning) to the AR and looking at that picture I couldn't figure out what's wrong except mine doesn't look like that....Honestly thinking out loud what did he screw up? Obviously the dremel part, but what was he trying to do?

Opened the safe, grab Noveske (saved for a year), checked condition safe, rear pin out, tilt it open pull out charging handle with bolt carrier....Ahhhh forgot about the carrier WOW now I get it. Mine GTG, but honestly won't feel comfortable with the platform until I get to a class or two, but feel better being promoted to Noob #2.

How long does it take to cut a cam pin with a dremel?

    Noah
